Payment Instructions

Below is a list of the required fields for sending a payment to an account held at your bank. Each payment method requires similar, but not identical information.

When presenting payment instructions to your clients or customers it is advised to clearly outline what information is expected for each field. It is important for a sender to use the correct information. If the information is incorrect, the payment may be returned, or take longer to post in the intended account.

It is for this reason we advise making it easy to copy and paste this information from your mobile, or web app. This way the likelihood of a sender making an error with the details is reduced. See below sample wire payment instruction mock up.

Wire Payment Instructions

Field	Example	Notes
Account Name	James Technologies, Inc.	The entity name on your bank account (check bank statements or ask your relationship manager if you are unsure). If the account name does not exactly match the destination core account of your organization the wire may be automatically returned. In the case of a virtual account it should not be the name you have assigned to the virtual account. It should be the underlying core account. In the example given ‘James Technologies, Inc.’.
Account Number	12345678	Your bank account number (to which the payment will be sent). This may either be a core account number, or a virtual account number.
Bank Name	The Good Bank	The official bank name. You may look this up based on your bank’s routing number via the American Bankers Association here.
Company Name	James Technologies, Inc.	Your organization’s legal name.
Company Address	2 Washington Street, New York, NY, 12345	Your organization’s legal address.
Bank Address	55 Avery Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA, 12345	The official bank address. You may look this up based on your bank’s routing number via the American Bankers Association here. You can also check any bank statement provided to you.
Routing Number	123456789	Your bank’s routing number.
Beneficiary Reference	INV123456	Optional field. If populated it will show on an inbound payment in the wireBenfRef field.

ACH Payment Instructions

Field	Example	Notes
Account Name	James Technologies, Inc.	The entity name on your bank account (check bank statements or ask your relationship manager if you are unsure). If the account name does not exactly match the destination core account of your organization the payment may be automatically returned. In the case of a virtual account it should not be the name you have assigned to the virtual account. It should be the underlying core account. In the example given ‘James Technologies, Inc.’.
Account Number	12345678	Your bank account number (to which the payment will be sent). This may either be a core account number, or a virtual account number.
Routing Number	123456789	Your bank’s routing number.
Account Type	CHECKING	Your account type (CHECKING or SAVINGS).
Entry Description	INV123456	Optional field. If populated it will show on an inbound ACH transaction in the company_entry_description field.
Addenda	Payment for service	Optional field. If populated it will show on an inbound ACH transaction in the Addenda field.

Real Time Payment (RTP) and FedNow Payment Instructions
