ACH Blocks and Positive Pay

Docs > Payments > Payments > ACH Blocks and Positive Pay

Overview

The below ACH blocks will only block externally originated ACH debit and credit activity to your account if the payment carries an ACH Company Name and ACH Company ID not on the allow list. By default your organization’s ACH Company ID will be allowed so that you may originate ACH payments without issue. These blocks are to prevent, control, and monitor externally originated ACH activity against your accounts (activity that you did not create).

It is possible for either externally originated ACH debits (pulls) or ACH credits to be blocked from posting to an account. The following configurations are possible, and should be discussed with the Payments Orchestrator team. These configurations are made on the platform directly, and the Payments Orchestrator team will need to set this for you.

ACH Credit Block - ALL

Set per Ledger Program, and applies to all underlying created virtual accounts. All inbound ACH Credits will be automatically rejected (returned) without posting with an R29 reason code. An ACH Credit transaction will be created as a record of this in a status of Declined.

ACH Debit Block - ALL

Set per Ledger Program, and applies to all underlying created virtual accounts. All inbound ACH Debits (pulls) will be automatically rejected (returned) without posting with an R29 reason code. An ACH Credit transaction will be created as a record of this in a status of Declined.

ACH Debit Block - Threshold

The same logic as with the ACH Debit Block - ALL configuration above, but with the addition of a configured value. E.g. allow ACH Debits (pulls) below the threshold of ($2.00). Reject (return) without posting with an R29 reason code any attempted ACH Debit greater than $2.00.

ACH Debit Review - Positive Pay

Inbound ACH Debits (Pulls) will be created in a Needs Review transaction status. These items then need to be decisioned by 12:00 ET each day. If approved, the transaction will update to a status of Success and the funds will be debited from your account. If rejected the transaction will update to a status of Declined, no funds will be debited and the transaction will be returned without posting with an R29 reason code.

Info
Needs Review items must be decisioned by 12:00 ET each day.
