Jack Henry Identity > Integration Tips

Which of the flows do you need?

Depending on your needs, you may need to utilize one or both of the supported flows.

Do you need to verify the identity of financial institution employees when they attempt to log into a Jack Henry application?

This use case fits with the Authorization Code flow. If you’re unfamiliar with this concept, this is a good place to start before digging into the specifics of implementing the flow with Jack Henry identity.

Do you need authentication for server-to-server or machine-to-machine interactions, where an application needs to securely obtain an access token without direct user involvement?

This use case fits with the Client Credentials flow. If you’re unfamiliar with this concept, this is a good place to start before digging into the specifics of implementing the flow with Jack Henry identity.

Do you need to verify the identity of consumer users (customers or members of the institution) when they attempt to log into a Jack Henry application?

This use case fits with the Authorization Code flow, BUT is not supported by Jack Henry Identity. A separate, similar product called Unified Identity Service is available to support this. While some of the public documentation for UIS is still in the works, it leverages OAuth 2.1 and OIDC similar to Jack Henry Identity and can be supported in production today.
